Wildebeest migration

The wildebeest migration is a natural spectacle that is considered as one of the greatest wildlife shows on earth. Witnessing this annual event is a truly unforgettable experience for any traveler visiting Kenya. Millions of wildebeest, accompanied by zebras and gazelles, embark on a journey from the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania to the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya.

This journey is full of obstacles and dangers, including crossing crocodile-infested rivers and avoiding predators such as lions and hyenas. The sight of thousands of wildebeest running across the open plains is awe-inspiring, and the sounds of their hooves pounding the ground and their calls filling the air is unforgettable. The best time to witness this natural wonder is from July to October, when the herds are in the Masai Mara.

Nairobi, the bustling city of Kenya, is a melting pot of various cultures, cuisines, and people, which makes it an exciting destination to explore. However, with so many options to choose from, it can be overwhelming to decide where to begin. To make the most of your Nairobi adventure, we offer a guided tour of the city center coupled with a visit to Bomas of Kenya, where you can witness dances, crafts, music, and homes representing different regions of the country.

During the tour, you’ll get to savor the taste of Nyama Choma, grilled beef or goat, which is a popular local delicacy. Instead of bombarding you with historical information for hours, our guides will share engaging and fascinating facts about Nairobi, making the tour informative and enjoyable. Additionally, we’ll teach you some cool Nairobi slang and basic Swahili words and sentences, so that you can blend in effortlessly with the diverse population of the city.

Bush Walks

Immerse yourself in the African wilderness and discover a whole new world on foot with the River Trail. Led by experienced Maasai naturalists, this guided hike will provide a unique perspective on every aspect of the river, from the tiniest insects and plants to the magnificent river creatures that call it home. With game viewing opportunities and activities aplenty, bush walks in Kenya are a fantastic way to explore the landscape in a more intimate way. While big game may not always be seen on a walking safari, the thrill of being on foot in the bush is an experience like no other. The hike can take anywhere from one to three hours, and will undoubtedly leave you with unforgettable memories of your time in Kenya’s breathtaking wilderness.

Tour of a Maasai Village

While Kenya is renowned for its scenery and fauna, tourists may find themselves curious about the customs and culture of the country’s native communities. This day trip to a Maasai village offers a chance to dispel any misconceptions and gain authentic knowledge about Maasai traditions from the locals themselves. With a private guide, visitors can enjoy personalized attention and easily travel to and from their Nairobi accommodations.

Climbing Mt Kenya

In Kenya, there’s a mountain that shares the country’s name. It’s the second-tallest peak on the continent, and it’s actually an old volcano that’s been inactive for some time now. Its snow-capped tip sits at a towering height of 5,199 meters or 17,057 feet, and it’s right on the equator!

If you’re an avid hiker, you might want to consider embarking on a multi-day trek to reach the snowline. It’s definitely not an easy feat, but it’s sure to be a highlight of your time in Kenya. Along the way, you’ll traverse through beautiful montane forests that are home to elephants and monkeys. As you get higher, the terrain will change to a chilly Afro-alpine moorland zone. Here, you’ll come across some pretty surreal-looking giant lobelias.

When you finally make it to the top, you’ll be standing at Point Lenana, which is the highest non-technical peak at a staggering height of 4,985 meters or 16,355 feet.

Snorkeling

Watamu, a coastal town situated on the Indian Ocean about 100 kilometers or 60 miles north of Mombasa, boasts an idyllic location at the northernmost tip of a shallow bay. The bay is dotted with curious, mushroom-shaped coral islets, which make for an enchanting sight.

This particular beach is a rarity in my experience, as it allows visitors to simply wade out into the water with snorkel and flippers and immerse themselves in the serene beauty of coral gardens. The gardens are teeming with vibrant reef fish, adding a colorful and lively dimension to the already breathtaking scenery.

For those who prefer to remain above water, non-swimmers can still take part in the captivating submarine action by boarding a glass-bottomed boat. This unique experience provides a chance to witness the spectacular underwater ecosystem from the comfort of a vessel, offering a truly unparalleled perspective.

Tour of Mombasa City

Embark on a journey through time with a tour of Mombasa city. From the bustling markets of Old Town to the imposing Fort Jesus, this coastal city is steeped in history and culture. Marvel at the intricate architecture of the city’s historic buildings, including the famous white-washed houses with ornate balconies and wooden doors. The tour also includes a visit to the iconic Fort Jesus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built in the 16th century by the Portuguese to protect their trade route to India. With its impressive walls and bastions, the fort offers a glimpse into Mombasa’s rich past and the struggles for control of the East African coast.

Mombasa is a great destination to enjoy the unique flavors of Swahili cuisine, blending African, Arab and Indian influences.

Swimming and Sunbathing in Diani

Diani Beach is the perfect place to indulge in some much-needed R&R. It is regarded as Kenya’s finest beach, extending to about 25km of clear ocean and white sandy beaches. The sun-kissed shores of this tropical paradise offer plenty of opportunities to stretch out on the fine white sand and soak up the warm rays of the sun. The gentle rustling of the coconut palms overhead and the sound of the turquoise waters lapping against the shore create a serene ambiance that is ideal for unwinding and de-stressing.

The calm waters protected by the coral reef are perfect for a refreshing swim, while the nearby beach bars and restaurants provide everything you need to satisfy your hunger and thirst. Whether you’re reading a book, sipping on a fruity cocktail, or simply enjoying the tranquil surroundings, sunbathing and relaxing at Diani Beach is an experience you won’t forget.
